Cottage in Taby Village

Asa and hubby Hassan used to live in a two-room flat in Stockholm and were thrilled to move to a place surrounded by lots of trees in the quiet village of Taby. They were not too thrilled with the 100 year old house, though. Asa remembers it used to feel like a prison with very small windows and dark gloomy rooms. But the spot was perfect so they decided to take on the renovation adding windows, replacing the small ones and painting most of the walls, inside and out, in light colours.<br />And this is how it turned out.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.alltihemmet.se/InternalFiles/OmAlltiHemmet/Jag_ville_ha_ett_dromkok/aihtaby4_lag.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 364px;" /><br />Balusters and frames were painted white, the front door and side windows lavender, and the wooden steps were left unpainted.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.alltihemmet.se/InternalFiles/OmAlltiHemmet/Jag_ville_ha_ett_dromkok/aihtaby5_lag.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 364px;" /><br />Mostly white kitchen with open shelves displaying colourful ceramic tableware. The bare bricks of one of the walls adds a warm rustic touch.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.alltihemmet.se/InternalFiles/OmAlltiHemmet/Jag_ville_ha_ett_dromkok/aihtaby1_lag.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 364px;" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.alltihemmet.se/InternalFiles/OmAlltiHemmet/Jag_ville_ha_ett_dromkok/aihtaby2_lag.jpg" style="width: 651px; height: 364px;" /><br />Lavender painted front doors open directly into the bright living room.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.alltihemmet.se/InternalFiles/OmAlltiHemmet/Jag_ville_ha_ett_dromkok/aihtaby_lag.jpg" style="width: 650px; height: 363px;" /><br />Small dining area on a decked patio between the original house and an extension. Teak table and folding chairs. Fresh herbs are kept in a small wooden crate that hangs on the wall.<br /><br />A pity there were so few pics.
